Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, engaged in a conversation with students at the University of Texas in Dallas, USA. During this interaction, he also criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the RSS. Rahul Gandhi stated, 'The RSS believes that India is an idea, whereas we believe that India is a plurality of ideas. We believe that everyone should be allowed to participate, dream, and should be given a place regardless of their caste, language, religion, tradition, or history.'
He mentioned that this struggle became more evident in the elections when millions of Indians realized that the Prime Minister of India (Narendra Modi) was attacking the Constitution of India. Everything I've said to you is in the Constitution. The foundation of modern India is the Constitution.
'Our first job is for women...'
Talking about Indian women, Rahul Gandhi remarked, 'I believe in women's empowerment, ensuring that women get opportunities in business, providing financial assistance if they wish to start their own business, and making participation easier for women. Women face many issues that we need to address to enable their participation. The first step is to see women as equals to men, accept that they can do everything a man can do, and recognize their strength.'

Rahul Gandhi further said that this is part of an ideological battle between the BJP and us. The BJP and RSS believe that women should be confined to traditional roles – staying at home, cooking, and speaking less. We believe that women should have the freedom to do whatever they want.

'In elections, people realized that BJP...'
Rahul Gandhi stated, 'In the elections, people clearly understood what I was saying when I raised the issue of the Constitution. They were saying that the BJP is attacking our traditions, our language, our states, our history.'
Rahul emphasized that the most important thing is that (the people) understood that anyone attacking the Constitution of India is also attacking our religious traditions. That is why, in my first speech in Parliament, you would have seen that when I talked about the Abhayamudra - the symbol of fearlessness present in every Indian religion, the BJP could not tolerate it.

'Achievements of the people of India...'
Rahul Gandhi stated that another thing that happened was that the fear of the BJP disappeared. We saw that immediately after the election results were announced, in just a few minutes, nobody in India was afraid of the BJP or the Prime Minister of India.
Rahul Gandhi further remarked that these are huge achievements, not of Rahul Gandhi or the Congress party, but of the people of India, who embraced democracy, understood that we will not accept any attacks on our Constitution, on our religion, or on our states.
