Addressing a campaign rally in Telangana, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi emphasized the slogan 'as much as the population, so shall be the share', stating that a financial and institutional survey would be conducted to determine control over the nation's wealthiest assets if Congress is voted into power. Delivering a public address in Hyderabad following the release of the party's manifesto, Gandhi promised a nationwide caste census and wealth survey—pledging a groundbreaking step towards equitable wealth distribution.
He added, 'Our first step will be to identify the number of OBC, SC, ST, and minorities through a national caste census. Then, we will undertake a financial and institutional survey to ensure equal distribution of wealth.' Gandhi highlighted that the party would ensure representation of all communities across all sectors and that Congress is committed to securing their rightful share.
Rahul Gandhi pointed out that the SC, ST, OBC, and minorities account for 90% of the total population but are scarcely seen in employment. 'The harsh reality is this 90% population does not hold any substantial stake.' He further noted, 'There are 90 IAS officers running the nation's administration, but of those, only 3 are OBC, 1 tribal, and 3 Dalits.' He declared that the Congress party aims to distribute property, jobs, and welfare schemes proportionate to community populations.
On Friday, Congress released their manifesto focusing on five pillars of justice and highlighted measures to strengthen OBC representation in the nation. It is noted that Telangana will vote for 17 Lok Sabha seats on May 13 in a single phase, with results announced on June 4. Rahul Gandhi was addressing the rally at the same Telangana location where Sonia Gandhi had announced Congress's six guarantees last year.
