The Indian National Congress Headquarters, located in the national capital, Delhi, hosted a flag-hoisting ceremony on Independence Day. The event was attended by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and leader Rahul Gandhi.

Unexpectedly, it started raining during the event, but that didn't deter Rahul Gandhi, who continued to sing the national anthem proudly in the rain.

Standing tall with dedication, Rahul Gandhi was seen in a viral video on social media, singing the national anthem while standing before the tricolor flag.

Prior to this, Rahul Gandhi conveyed Independence Day greetings to the nation through a social media post. In his message, he wrote, "This freedom achieved through the sacrifices of great freedom fighters is a resolution for building an India where truth and equality lay the foundation for justice, and respect and brotherhood flourish in every heart. It is our duty to protect this invaluable legacy's honor and dignity."

Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge also shared a social media post on Independence Day, stating, "Today's day is historic for the Congress party as we celebrate Independence Day at our new permanent headquarters. The world acknowledges our party's role in achieving the freedom on August 15, 1947. The saga of the freedom struggle is intertwined with our party's narrative. On this occasion, I pay tribute to all the great personalities who contributed and sacrificed for the freedom movement."

He further pointed out that post-independence, after relentless efforts of two and a half years, India was given its constitution, unmatched by any constitutional document worldwide. Over eight decades post-independence, the Indian National Congress governments and visionary leaders laid the foundation for a robust India.

Kharge wrote in his post, "India, shackled in the chains of slavery for centuries, truly gained independence and self-reliance with the establishment of massive steel plants. To achieve self-sufficiency in food grains, huge dams were constructed, and networks of canals were established. World-class engineering and medical colleges were built, and space technology was set up."

He further added that we progressed rapidly, and soon our name was counted among the world's major powers. After 2004, we emerged as a world leader in Information Technology.
