Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha and senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is on a 3-day tour of the United States. During his visit, Rahul Gandhi reached Georgetown University in Washington DC on Tuesday. Here, he engaged with students and also targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS).

Rahul Gandhi said, 'Before the elections, we kept emphasizing that institutions were being taken over. RSS has taken over the education system. Media and investigative agencies are controlled. We kept saying this, but people didn't understand. Then, when we started holding the constitution forward, everything we said suddenly erupted.'

Our Bank Accounts Were Shut Down

The Leader of the Opposition said, 'Poor India, the oppressed India understood deeply that if the constitution was gone, everything would be gone. The poor realized that this was a battle between the protectors and destroyers of the constitution. The issue of caste census also became big. These things suddenly started coming together. I don't think BJP was close to 246 in a fair election. They had a massive economic advantage. They shut down our bank accounts.'

I Don't Consider It a Free Election

Targeting the Election Commission, Rahul said, 'The Election Commission was doing what they (BJP) wanted. The whole campaign was designed in a way for Narendra Modi to do his work across the country. The states where they (BJP) were weak were designed differently from those where they were strong. I don't see it as a free election. I see it as a controlled election.'

OBC-Dalits Are Being Betrayed

Rahul Gandhi said, 'During half of the campaign, Modi didn't feel they were close to 300-400 seats. When he said he talks directly to God, we knew we had decimated them. We saw it as their psychological collapse. The coalition that brought Narendra Modi to power has disintegrated. There is a huge collusion between the government and two or three big businesses. OBCs and Dalits are being betrayed.'

Comment About 90% Population

Rahul said, 'The issue is that 90% of India's OBCs, Dalits, and Tribals are not part of this game. Caste census is a simple way to know how lower castes, backward castes, and Dalits are integrated into the system. Out of the top 200 businesses in India, 90% of the population owns almost nothing. In the country's top courts, 90% of India's people have almost no participation. We want to understand their social and financial status. We also want to see Indian institutions to understand how India participates in these institutions.'
