On Monday, the Punjab Police shattered an international drug trafficking ring managed by Sonu, a trafficker based in Canada. The police arrested three members of the network, seizing 2.5 kg of heroin, ₹42 lakh cash, a car, and a motorcycle. According to the police, further actions are underway in the matter.

Punjab Police's DGP, Gaurav Yadav, identified the arrested individuals as Ajaypal Singh alias Ajay (Sarain Amanat Khan, Tarn Taran), Hardeep Singh (Bhagtanwalla, Amritsar), and Milap Singh (Alipur, Tarn Taran). A reliable tip-off received by the Counter Intelligence Amritsar team revealed that Sonu, the Canada-based drug trafficker, was dispatching shipments through his Punjabi associates.

Ajaypal and Hardeep, shortly before their arrest, were transporting heroin on a motorcycle from Link Road to Khurmania. Acting promptly, the police intercepted them and seized 2.5 kg of heroin. Interrogation revealed that after delivering the drugs, the cash was handed over to Milap Singh.

Based on this, Milap was apprehended near Alipur village on the Amritsar-Bathinda highway, with ₹42 lakh and a currency counting machine in his possession. DGP Yadav noted the gang was making transactions through hawala channels for drug distribution. The investigation continues, with more arrests anticipated.
