On Wednesday, Punjab Police's State Special Operations Cell (SSO) made a breakthrough by arresting YouTuber Jasbir Singh, suspected of being part of a Pakistan-backed espionage network. Jasbir Singh, boasting over 1.1 million subscribers on YouTube, is accused of involvement with the network.
The arrest revealed Jasbir Singh's alleged connections to Pakistani intelligence agent Shakir, alias Jatt Randhawa, who is part of a terrorist-backed espionage network. The police disclosed Jasbir's close links with Haryana-based YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra (previously arrested for espionage) and Pakistani citizen Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, a formerly expelled officer from the Pakistan High Commission.
Punjab Police's investigation uncovered that Jasbir Singh attended the Pakistan National Day event in Delhi on Danish's invitation, where he interacted with Pakistani military officials and vloggers. He traveled to Pakistan thrice in 2020, 2021, and 2024. Numerous Pakistan-based phone numbers are under thorough forensic examination in his electronic devices.
Post Jyoti Malhotra's arrest, Jasbir strove to erase all communication and evidence with PIO to evade police action. A FIR has been registered at Mohali SSOC, and investigations are underway.
Simultaneously, on Tuesday, Punjab Police's Counter-Intelligence Wing, in collaboration with Tarn Taran Police, arrested Pakistani spy Gagandeep Singh alias Gagan through a joint operation. This arrest revealed connections between the accused and Pakistan's intelligence agency ISI, alongside Pakistan-based Khalistani supporter Gopal Singh Chauhan. Gagandeep supplied sensitive information related to military activities and deployment during Operation Sindhur to Pakistani agencies.
Punjab Police reassures its commitment to preserving national sovereignty and integrity, pledging action against anyone involved in anti-national activities.
