In the wake of catastrophic floods in Punjab, Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra, a legislator from the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), has lashed out against his own party and the administration. He has accused a senior IAS officer of failing to act on his requests for river cleaning and silt removal, leading to the flooding of numerous villages in his constituency. He demands the immediate removal of the officer from Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Singh has accused his party's central leadership of attempting to 'suppress' Punjab's legislators instead of amending the administration.

Speaking to reporters, he revealed that he had repeatedly raised this issue in the Punjab Assembly and even had a personal meeting with the Chief Secretary (Water Resources), Krishna Kumar. Yet, no meaningful action was taken.

Calls for Officer's Removal...

AAP leader Harmeet Singh has urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann for the swift removal of Krishna Kumar from his position. He stated that even during the last year's wheat harvest, his plea to halt the release of water into canals was ignored by Kumar, resulting in significant losses for farmers. Singh insists he is advocating for his constituents, regardless of the potential party suspension or other repercussions.

Security Revoked...

On Monday, Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra claimed that his security was withdrawn, an action he anticipated. He remarked, "Leaders in Delhi (AAP) might think they can intimidate me with vigilance actions or FIRs, but I will never bow down. I will stand like a rock with my people."

He urged Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann to rise above the 'pressure from high command,' stating, "All of Punjab stands with you."
