Pune Porsche Car Case: Under the directive of the Pune Sessions Court, Vishal Agarwal, the father of the juvenile accused in a horrific car incident, has been confined to police custody until May 24th. During this period, intensive questioning will unveil more about their involvement. Captured on Tuesday from Aurangabad, Vishal made a valiant effort to elude police before his unfortunate arrest. He had been weaving a net of deceit ever since an FIR was lodged against him. However, his freedom was short-lived as police utilized CCTV footage, GPS tracking, and tips from his relatives to apprehend him.

Following the FIR, Vishal fled Pune. In a cunning move, three cars were seen leaving his residence to mislead authorities—one driven by him and the others by his chauffeurs, heading towards Mumbai, Goa, and Kolhapur. He then disconnected from the grid, switching off his mobile and remerging with a different number to contact his family.

Mid-journey, Vishal switched cars, taking the wheel of a friend’s vehicle and headed towards Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, even taking a detour to his farmhouse in Daund. Periodically, he updated his family on his whereabouts. Come Monday night, he and his driver sought refuge in a lodge at Sambhajinagar. The crime branch, hot on his trail, traced his location via GPS and, with the aid of CCTV, confirmed his identity.

In the interlude between Monday night and early Tuesday, police caught up with Vishal at the lodge and apprehended him. He is to be presented at the district court of Pune. Beforehand, on Monday, the police petitioned the high court to try the minor accused as an adult, a request previously rejected by the lower courts. The incident has spurred the police to form multiple investigation teams.

The tragic morning when a minor crashed a Porsche, claiming two lives

The hit-and-run case occurred on the morning of May 19th. In Pune's Kalyani Nagar, Vishal Agarwal’s 17-year-old son plowed into two motorbike-riding engineers with his Porsche sports car, resulting in their tragic deaths. Fourteen hours after the incident, the underage driver was granted bail with conditions to serve time with traffic police and pen a 300-word essay on the consequences and resolution of road accidents. However, the police investigation revealed the terrifying truth—the minor was intoxicated and speeding mercilessly at the time of the crash.

Police plea for trial as an adult following the fatal event

Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar expressed that the juvenile offender should be tried as an adult. The police solicited permission from higher authorities, expressing disdain over the leniency granted to the accused minor. According to Kumar, the incident was charged under IPC section 304 (culpable homicide not amounting to murder), section 304A (causing death by negligence), and relevant provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Maharashtra CM’s stern directive after the grim occurrence

Following the incident, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis mandated stringent measures. When questioned about potential pressure on police, Pune’s Police Commissioner assured that the force has been operating strictly by the law, unaffected by influence. Kumar declared readiness to discuss every legal step taken by police, affirming the severity of their response.
