Maharashtra Congress President Harshvardhan Sapkal has made serious allegations against certain Pune police officers, claiming that they physically assaulted three women and made derogatory caste remarks. He is calling for immediate legal action against those involved.

Inquiry Sought by Harshvardhan

On Monday, Sapkal issued a statement questioning the police procedures, asking why no FIR has been lodged against the officers. He inquired, "Why is there hesitation in taking action against these officers? The law is equal for everyone. These officers should be penalized for their misconduct."

Three Women Residing in Pune

The women are residents of Pune and have accused the police of mistreatment during an inquiry about a missing woman, who had stayed with them temporarily. The incidents allegedly occurred during this questioning.

'Those Helping are Being Targeted'

The Congress leader alleged that the women who stepped forward to help another woman are now being targeted. He questioned, "Who is shielding these police officers? Are the Pune Police Commissioner and senior officials taking any action? Despite such serious allegations, why has no concrete step been taken yet?"

Additionally, Sapkal criticized the administration over increasing criminal activities in Pune. He remarked that the police seem more occupied with harassing common citizens while drug trafficking and gang wars are on the rise in the city.

He referred to a recent statement by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, mentioning that even the Chief Minister acknowledged the growing issues of hooliganism and coercion politics in Pune, which are hindering industrial and developmental progress. Yet, no tangible actions appear to be taken.
