The horrific Porsche crash in Pune, Maharashtra, remains a pressing topic as multiple arrests have been made in the case. Eyewitness Sanket shares a firsthand account.
Sanket reported that on the day of the incident, the Porsche car's speed was extraordinarily high. The violent collision with a motorcycle was so sudden; we were in shock. The girl died instantly, launched 15 feet up into the air right before my eyes. The body of the boy was severely mangled.
Sanket recounted that the accused was unable to flee the crash site as all the car's airbags had deployed. Besides the underage driver, several individuals were in the car. Because of the deployed airbags, they were ejected from the vehicle, after which the crowd began to assault the accused. I held the accused until the police arrived and handed him over.
The underage accused was the one driving
Sanket stated that the Porsche was being driven by an intoxicated minor. He was so inebriated that the beating from the crowd did not seem to affect him at all. I took him to the crash site and showed him the consequences of his actions.
Sanket says that while the crowd was beating the minor, no one realized who he was. Eventually, someone in the crowd recognized him, 'That's Agarwal's son... the son of Brahma Realty's builder.'
Case Background
In Pune's Kalyani Nagar, the 17-year-old son of real estate developer Vishal Agarwal ran over two engineers with his Porsche sports car, resulting in their deaths. 14 hours after the incident, the underage accused was bailed from court under certain conditions. The court instructed him to work with traffic police for 15 days and write a 300-word essay on the impact and resolution of road accidents. However, the investigation revealed that the accused was under the influence of alcohol and driving the car at high speeds. The minor is currently in a reform home.
Negligence from police officials
Two officers from Yerwada police station were the first to reach the scene after the accident. However, they neither reported to their superiors nor the control room. Zone-1 DCP Gil, was also on a night round and hadn't been informed. The police later suspended the two officers for their negligent duty and delayed reporting the crime. The officers are named as Inspector Rahul Jagadale and API Vishwanath Todkari. The charge is that they failed to conduct a medical examination of the accused minor.
Attempts to influence the investigation!
After the incident, MLA Sunil Tingare from Vadgaon Sheri visited the Yerwada police station early in the morning, sparking controversy. It is alleged that he tried to influence the investigation in favor of the minor, as he is considered close to real estate businessman Vishal Agarwal. However, Tingare rejected the allegations of pressuring the police.
