The BJP has released its resolution document for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled the manifesto at the BJP headquarters, outlining the ambitious plans for the next five years and the free offerings set to benefit the nation's citizens.
Prime Minister Modi has designed the manifesto with a focus on four pillars: the youth, women, farmers, and the impoverished. He has set a goal to elevate India to a developed nation by 2047. Big announcements were made, from extending the Free Electricity Scheme to continuing the free grain program under the Free Ration Scheme. Furthermore, initiatives such as the PM Swanidhi Scheme, Ujjwala Scheme, Ayushman Scheme, and other programs will see expanded coverage and enhancement.
Free Rations for the Next Five Years
Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that poor families will continue to receive free rations for the next five years. The Free Ration Scheme was initiated in 2020 and currently supports over 800 million families with free provisions. The Prime Minister assured that efforts to secure the nutrition of the poor will persist, with the PM Awas Yojana also set to expand, having already provided permanent homes to more than 40 million families.
Free Healthcare for Seniors Over 70
Under the Ayushman Bharat Scheme, poor families are entitled to free medical treatment up to INR 500,000. Plans are in motion to extend the scope of this service, incorporating additional healthcare offerings. Medicines will be made available at significant discounts at Jan Aushadhi Centres, and seniors over the age of 70 will be brought into the coverage of the Ayushman Plan as well.
Piped Cooking Gas for Homes
The PM highlighted that the Ujjwala Scheme has already provided gas connections to impoverished households, ensuring domestic gas reach. The next step is the widespread distribution of affordable cooking gas via pipelines, touching an additional 3 million families with the assurance of permanent housing.
Announcement on Free Electricity, Mudra Scheme Expansion, and More
The Prime Minister stated that the PM Surya Ghar Free Electricity Scheme will enable households to receive up to 300 units of electricity for free through solar power. Furthermore, people can generate income by producing electricity via solar means. The cap for the Mudra Scheme will be raised from INR 10 Lakhs to INR 20 Lakhs, and the PM Swanidhi Scheme will be expanded to encompass rural regions as well.
