Prime Minister Narendra Modi departs from Delhi for his state visit to Bhutan, promising to be an eventful occasion on the 22nd and 23rd of March. Initially thwarted by inclement weather last Thursday, his journey is now set to promote the 'traditional high-level exchanges' between India and Bhutan.
Before his departure, PM Modi shared on social media, "Heading to Bhutan with the aim to strengthen the dynamic India-Bhutan partnership through various engagements."
During his two-day visit, PM Modi will meet with Bhutan's King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and the former King Jigme Singye Wangchuck. He is also scheduled to discuss bilateral and regional issues with Bhutan's Prime Minister Lotay Tshering.

The Ministry of External Affairs stated that India and Bhutan enjoy a unique and enduring partnership, founded on mutual trust, understanding, and goodwill. This visit is expected to provide both sides the opportunity to discuss issues of mutual and regional interest and to explore ways to further benefit our partnership for the prosperity of our people.
It's noteworthy that Bhutan's Prime Minister Lotay Tshering, after assuming office in February 2024, made his inaugural foreign trip to India from March 14 to 18.
