The Railway Protection Force (RPF) has miraculously reunited a missing 20-year-old man from Bihar with his family after nine long months. Believed dead, his last rites were performed in vain. The mentally challenged youth was discovered by the RPF, begging near Kalyan railway station in Thane, Maharashtra.

According to the agency, an officer revealed that Arjun Kumar had gone missing in August while returning to his hometown in Bihar from Himachal Pradesh. His parents work in Himachal. Senior Divisional Security Commissioner of RPF Mumbai, Rishi Kumar Shukla, received a tip about a youth wandering near Kalyan station. He then issued directives to investigate.

RPF Senior Officer Rakesh Kumar mentioned they located the youth and tried to extract information from him, but he could not recall anything about his home or family. He only mentioned his name as Arjun and was clueless about how he ended up in Kalyan.

The youth had been begging for days and was in a very weakened state. RPF offered him food and took care of him. Even after regaining strength, he could not provide any information. Based on his dialect, officers deduced he was from Patna district, as he spoke Magahi. Consequently, RPF in Kalyan contacted several police stations in Patna and reached out via social media platforms.

Family Found After Diligent Search Efforts

Rakesh Kumar stated that they finally obtained information about the youth’s family and address from the Dulhin Bazaar police station. Police then contacted his father, Ganahori Das, who works as a security guard in Baddi, Himachal Pradesh. Family members arrived, and Arjun was finally reunited with his kin on Thursday. Before this reunion, all his family knew was that he had boarded a train for Bihar but never arrived home.

After extensive searches bore no results, the family, on advice from relatives, conducted his last rites in February 2024. The emotional reunion on Thursday moved everyone to tears. The department stated that the young man's reunion with his family stands as a testament to the dedication of the RPF. The well-being of every individual is a testament to the collective efforts and compassion of the Central Railway.
