The emerging political landscape in Bihar sees Prashant Kishor's party 'Jansuraj' appointing its first national president. Former BJP MP from Purnia, Uday Singh, popularly known as Pappu Singh, joined Jansuraj on Friday after leaving Congress in 2024. Subsequently, Prashant Kishor declared him the party's inaugural national president.
Uday Singh's Longstanding Engagement with Jansuraj
Announcing this, Prashant Kishor shared that for the past two and a half years, Uday Singh had been a pivotal force behind the scenes, bolstering Jansuraj's campaign. Now that the movement has formally transformed into a party, 150 core committee members unanimously entrusted him with this role.
After assuming the presidency, Uday Singh stated, 'It's due to Prashant Kishor's relentless efforts that Jansuraj stands firm today. The journey from a campaign to a party has been achieved. I have closely witnessed Kishor's concern and commitment for Bihar. This party is formed in response to the demands of Bihar's people.'
Uday Singh's Vision as President
He further expressed, 'We are not here to fight anyone; rather, our mission is to convey Jansuraj's policies to Bihar's citizens. However, if obstacles arise between us and the people, be it JD(U), BJP, or RJD, we are ready to face any hindrance.'
Uday Singh assured that he would strive sincerely to fulfill the responsibilities bestowed upon him. The new organizational structure of Jansuraj signals a clear shift into election campaign mode, aiming to establish a fresh political stream in Bihar.
A Two-Time Electoral Winner
Uday Singh, alias Pappu Singh, has been an MP from Purnia on a BJP ticket twice. He emerged successful in 2004 and 2009 elections from Purnia for BJP. However, he faced defeats in 2014 and 2019 contests (as a Congress candidate).
