Two members of Parliament (MPs) from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) are set to join Narendra Modi's government 3.0 as ministers. The names of these MPs have been decided upon by TDP. Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu will take the oath as Cabinet Minister and Chandrashekar Pemmasani will take the oath as the Minister of State (Independent Charge) today. Hailing from Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh, 36-year-old Ram Mohan Naidu is set to become the youngest Cabinet Minister to date.

Ram Mohan Naidu was born in Nimmada on December 18, 1987. He is the son of the former Union Minister and TDP leader, Yerran Naidu. His foray into public service and political life is a legacy handed down to him. Regarding his education, Ram Mohan completed his early studies at Delhi Public School, R.K. Puram, followed by a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in the United States, and later an MBA from Long Island University.

In 2012, tragedy struck with the untimely passing of his father in a road accident.

He had just begun his career in Singapore when the unfortunate accident claimed his father's life. Subsequently, he entered politics and in 2014, at the age of 26, Ram Mohan was elected as an MP from Srikakulam and became the second youngest MP in the 16th Lok Sabha.

A confidant of Chandrababu Naidu, Ram Mohan stands tall

Known for his proximity to Chandrababu Naidu, Ram Mohan is counted amongst his father Yerran Naidu's confidants just like the party's leader. During the trying times of Chandrababu Naidu's arrest, Ram Mohan played a pivotal role along with Nara Lokesh, the son of the TDP chief, in New Delhi. Given that Ram Mohan was actively involved in Delhi's political circuit for nearly nine years and had contacts across various parties, he joined forces with Nara Lokesh to form a front against the arrest of the TDP chief. Chandrababu had entrusted him with the responsibility of accompanying him on all visits to Delhi, showcasing their strong political partnership capable of navigating the complexities of national politics.

Ram Mohan awarded the Parliamentarian of the Year in 2020

In recognition of his distinguished service, Ram Mohan Naidu received the Parliamentarian of the Year Award in 2020. Additionally, in 2024, he secured victory in his constituency with a margin of 3.27 thousand votes. He has also been a member of several parliamentary committees, including on Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Railways, Home Affairs, Tourism, and Culture.

A proponent of modern parenting, Ram Mohan avails paternity leave

Ram Mohan married Shravya in 2017 and welcomed their daughter in 2012. As a dedicated family man, he also strives to break conservative norms in politics. Notably, he chose to take paternity leave during the budget session of 2021 to support his wife during pregnancy, prompting a constructive discourse on gender rights and responsibilities. As a member of the Parliament, he is one of the spearheads advocating for menstrual health education and sex education, and has actively campaigned for the removal of the GST on sanitary pads.

Ram Mohan poised to surpass his father's record

Following in his father Yerran Naidu's footsteps, who was the youngest cabinet minister in 1996, Ram Mohan is now ready to continue the legacy of public service in the NDA coalition by becoming the youngest cabinet minister in 2024, eclipsing his father's record.
