UP News:
In Auraiya, UP, three young men arrived on motorcycles disguised as tantrics and wove a web of deception around a policewoman's wife. They made off with jewelry worth nearly 17 lakh rupees and 2 lakh rupees in cash before vanishing. In their place, they left a parcel of paper filled with pebbles, dust, and a thread. Upon opening the parcel, the woman was shocked and began to cry out in despair, informing her relatives of the incident.
This incident occurred in the Bidhuna Kotwali region of Auraiya, at the residence of Suresh Yadav, a Deputy Inspector of Police from Baghpat district. His wife, Kusuma Devi, was about to buy milk around 5 pm when the bike-riding impostors stopped and engaged her in conversation.

First, they persuaded Kusuma Devi to hand over her necklace and earrings. Then they tricked her into bringing her daughter-in-law's jewelry and cash from her home. Kusum fell for their ruse and handed over the jewelry, worth about 17 lakhs, and 2 lakhs in cash. After obtaining the valuables, they handed her a paper bundle and fled the scene.
As soon as Kusuma Devi reached home and unwrapped the paper bundle, she found nothing but a red thread and some pieces of dirt. The shock made her wail loudly, attracting the attention of the neighbors. The police were informed, and upon their arrival, they began an inquiry.
A local officer, Ashok Kumar, shared that two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle posed as mystics, inquired about the household, and prompted her to fetch the inside jewelry in exchange for a paper bundle supposedly containing valuables. Once Kusuma Devi opened the bundle, all she found was gravel and soil. By the time the neighbors could react, the fake tantrics had already vanished with the jewelry. Investigation teams are reviewing CCTV footage, and legal action is being pursued based on the complaint filed.
