Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with President Xi Jinping in Tianjin, China. This meeting took place ahead of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit. During this time, PM Modi and Jinping engaged in a bilateral meeting that lasted for about an hour. PM Modi emphasized peace on the border, mutual cooperation, and strengthening relationships.
Focus on Strengthening India-China Relations
During the meeting with Jinping, PM Modi expressed gratitude for the warm welcome. He noted the meaningful discussions they had last year in Kazan, which led to a positive direction for their relations. After border disengagement, an environment of peace and stability has been maintained. PM Modi mentioned that there is an agreement between our special representatives concerning border management. The Kailash Mansarovar Yatra has resumed.

He said direct flights between the two countries are being resumed. Through our cooperation, 2.8 billion people are connected, paving the way for the welfare of all humanity. PM Modi stated that we are committed to advancing our relations based on mutual trust, respect, and sensitivity. He congratulated China (Xi Jinping) for successfully presiding over the SCO.
During the meeting with President Xi Jinping, India was represented by PM Modi along with NSA Ajit Doval, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, India's Ambassador to China Pradeep Rawat, Joint Secretary (East Asia) Gourang Lal Das, and Additional Secretary in PMO Deepak Mittal.
‘Agreed on Mutual Cooperation’
President Jinping stated that it was a pleasure to meet with PM Modi, emphasizing the importance of strong relations. He remarked that last year's meeting in Kazan was successful, and India-China cooperation is essential. Jinping affirmed full agreement on mutual cooperation.

Chinese President Xi Jinping remarked that the world is moving towards change. China and India are two of the most civilized nations globally, part of the Global South, and the most populous. He stated that it's essential to be friends, to be good neighbors, and for the dragon and elephant to unite.
PM Modi to Meet Putin
President Xi Jinping said, 'This year marks the 75th anniversary of China-India diplomatic relations. The countries need to manage their relations with a strategic and long-term perspective, fulfilling historical responsibilities to uphold multilateralism, a multipolar world, and democracy in international institutions. We must also work together for peace and prosperity across Asia and the world.'
PM Modi will now participate in the SCO summit, attended by leaders from over 20 countries. During his visit to China, PM Modi is also scheduled to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday. These meetings occur at a time when trade tensions between India and the U.S. are escalating, with President Donald Trump canceling his proposed visit to Delhi.
