Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to Japan has strengthened and deepened the ties between the two nations. During this visit, not only were historical announcements made regarding economic cooperation, but an unprecedented level of closeness between the top leaders was also evident.

PM Modi and Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba attended the India-Japan Economic Forum, where they shared a vision to enhance economic cooperation. Subsequently, Ishiba extended a formal welcome to PM Modi. Talks at the delegation level were held, and a dinner in Modi's honor was arranged by the Japanese Prime Minister.

On the following day, both leaders traveled together on the Shinkansen bullet train from Tokyo to Sendai. During the journey, they shared a meal and visited the Tokyo Electronics Factory. Thus, the majority of the two days saw the leaders in close contact.

Historic Investment and Significant Agreements

During PM Modi's visit, Japan made a significant announcement of a 10 trillion yen private investment in India over the next decade, which is considered the tour's most crucial achievement. This visit set the course for the direction of India-Japan relations in the coming decade. The central aspect of this roadmap is the 'India-Japan Joint Vision for the Next Decade'... covering key areas from economic growth, security, technology, innovation, health, sustainable development, mobility, to mutual exchange.

Numerous significant agreements (MoUs) were signed in areas such as defense, human resource exchange, digital innovation, critical minerals, clean energy, space cooperation, and cultural partnership between India and Japan.

Bipartisan Support Solidifies Partnership

A notable aspect of this visit was the bipartisan support received by the India-Japan partnership in Japan. Prime Minister Modi met with two former Japanese Prime Ministers, Yoshihide Suga and Fumio Kishida. Additionally, he held discussions with the Parliament's Speaker and a group of Members of Parliament.

Moreover, in an innovative initiative, governors from 16 prefectures of Japan (equivalent to the Chief Ministers in India) traveled to Tokyo to meet with PM Modi. This state-level engagement is a unique example of the depth of India-Japan relations.
