Piragadhi Incident: Delhi Government to Grant 10 Million to Fallen Firefighter's Family

The family of Amit Balyan, a Delhi Fire Brigade officer who perished in Thursday's Piragadhi incident, will receive 10 million rupees from the Delhi government.

In a tragic turn of events on Thursday morning in Piragadhi, Delhi, the family of Delhi Fire Brigade officer Amit Balyan, who tragically lost his life, will receive a compensation of 10 million rupees from the Delhi government. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal announced this financial aid under the state policy for the family of firefighter Anil Balyan.

Amit Balyan was married in February 2019 and began his service with the Delhi Fire Brigade in August. Anil Balyan was stationed at the Fire Brigade Center in West Vihar and succumbed to the accident while battling a fire in the Piragadhi industrial area on Thursday morning.

The building in West Bihar, where the fire erupted on Thursday morning, suffered a colossal blast causing it to collapse like straw, trapping 14 brave firefighters. Thirteen incurred minor injuries, while one firefighter was heroically rescued from the debris.

The roaring flames were subdued within a few hours, yet the smoke and remnants posed significant challenges to the rescue efforts by the NDRF and Fire Brigade. By the afternoon, Amit Balyan was recovered from the debris, but unfortunately, he passed away at the hospital.

Delhi Police has registered the entire incident as a case and began their investigation. Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal expressed condolences over Anil Balyan's passing. Simultaneously, the Chief Minister of Delhi expressed his sorrow over the event and announced the financial aid of 10 million rupees to the family of the deceased firefighter, Anil Balyan.

The Kejriwal government of Delhi provides 10 million rupees as financial aid to families of police, paramilitary, military personnel, home guards, and firefighters who die on duty.
