Senior British politician Peter Mandelson is poised to resign from the House of Lords amidst new questions and a potential police investigation related to his ties with Jeffrey Epstein. Lord Speaker Michael Forsyth announced that Mandelson will retire from the upper house on Wednesday. This announcement comes as the British government was preparing legislation to remove him from the House of Lords and strip him of his 'Lord Mandelson' title for life membership.

The British government also revealed that it has handed over a file to the police concerning Epstein-related documents alleging that Mandelson provided sensitive government information to Jeffrey Epstein. Prime Minister Keir Starmer informed the Cabinet that revelations and disclosures from new U.S. Justice Department documents involving Epstein have shocked and concerned him, fearing further information may emerge. These files, spanning over three million pages, detail the links between the 72-year-old Mandelson and Epstein.

Mandelson's Key Role in UK Government

Peter Mandelson has held several senior positions in Labour Party governments. Prime Minister Starmer removed him from the role of Britain's ambassador to the U.S. last September due to his past affiliations with Epstein. New disclosures from the Epstein files by the U.S. Justice Department highlight shocking revelations about Peter Mandelson. A photograph has surfaced showing Mandelson in just underwear and a T-shirt alongside a woman clad in a bathrobe.

Documents reveal that between 2003-2004, Epstein made three payments totaling $75,000 to accounts linked to Mandelson or his partner Renaldo Avila Da Silva. Mandelson defended himself by stating he has no recollection of the money and will verify the document's authenticity. Previously, on February 1, he resigned from the Labour Party. New revelations indicate that in 2009, Epstein sent Da Silva £10,000 for an osteopathy course.

Multiple Sensitive Files Sent to Epstein

Peter Mandelson labeled it a 'mistake in judgment.' Documents show that the same year, Mandelson sent Epstein an internal report on lobbying to reduce taxes on bankers' bonuses and sell government assets post the 2008 financial crisis. In May 2010, he messaged Epstein, 'According to sources, the €500 billion bailout is nearly finalized.' This message predated official European government announcements by a few hours. Britain's Health Secretary Wes Streeting termed Mandelson's actions a 'betrayal' of the victims and two Prime Ministers, Gordon Brown and Keir Starmer.
