A heart-wrenching road accident in Patna, Bihar, led to the untimely demise of a husband and wife. The incident occurred in the Jagdeo Path area, where a speeding car first struck a motorcycle and then an auto-rickshaw, resulting in the couple's death and injuring four others. This tragic event unfolded on Friday night.
According to a news agency report, the police revealed that the car driver was under the influence of alcohol and was promptly arrested following the accident. The deceased couple was riding a motorcycle, while four other individuals were inside the auto-rickshaw.
In the aftermath of the incident, local residents expressed outrage and ensured the wounded were transported to a nearby hospital. The motorcycle-riding couple succumbed to their injuries on Saturday evening, while the four injured auto passengers are currently receiving treatment, with their condition reported as stable.
The police have taken the errant driver into custody and impounded the vehicle. Despite a statewide ban on the sale and consumption of alcohol in Bihar since April 2016, cases of drunk driving persist. The police are actively investigating the matter and legal proceedings against the accused are underway.
