Paris Paralympics 2024:

On the fourth day of Paris Paralympics 2024, Sunday, September 1st, Indian athletes showcased their strength and secured the country's sixth medal. Female athlete Preeti Pal claimed a bronze medal in the Women's 200m race (T35) event, completing the race in 30.01 seconds.

This is Preeti's second bronze in these Paralympics, having previously won bronze in the 100m event. This brings India's total medal count at Paris Paralympics 2024 to six, including one gold, one silver, and four bronze medals.

Gold won with a Paralympic Record

Avani achieved gold in the R2 Women's 10m Air Rifle (SH1) event on Friday, August 30, setting a Paralympic record. In the same event, India's Mona Agarwal won the bronze medal.

22-year-old Avani scored 249.7 points in the final, setting a new Paralympic record, while bronze medalist Mona scored 228.7 points. Avani had also won gold in the same event at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020, successfully defending her title.

Preeti secures third medal; Manish wins the fourth

India secured its third medal at the Paris Paralympics with Preeti Pal winning bronze in the Women's 100m race (T35). Following this, on August 30, shooter Manish Narwal won India’s fourth medal, a silver, in the Men's 10m Air Pistol (SH1) event.

Manish Narwal had also performed remarkably at the Tokyo Paralympic Games, where he won gold in the P4 mixed 50m pistol SH1 event, scoring a total of 234.9 points in the final. South Korea's Jong Jung-Du won gold in the event with 237.4 points.

Rubina secures India's fifth medal

On the third day of the Paris Paralympics 2024, August 31, female shooter Rubina Francis secured India's fifth medal, a bronze, in the Women's 10m Air Pistol (SH1) event, scoring 211.1 points in the final. Thus, India's total medals at the Paris Paralympics 2024 now stand at five, including one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals.
