The Indian men's hockey team clinched the bronze medal by defeating Spain 2-1 in the Paris Olympics 2024 on Thursday. This marks India's fourth bronze in hockey. Additionally, India has secured 8 gold and 1 silver medal in Olympic history.
In the previous Tokyo Olympics, India also won a bronze medal. With this, the Indian hockey team made history by winning an Olympic medal after 52 years. The Punjab government has announced a reward of 1 crore rupees each for the Punjab players of the medal-winning team.
CM Mann Announces Reward
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann posted on social media platform X on Thursday evening: 'According to our sports policy, we will award each bronze medal player from Punjab 1 crore rupees... Chak De India...' The Indian hockey team won the medal by defeating the same team they beat 44 years ago to win their last gold medal.
Hockey India has also announced a cash prize of 15 lakh rupees for each player and 7.5 lakh rupees for supporting staff for winning the bronze medal in the Paris Olympics.
