Following the assassination of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) commander Abu Qatal, the Pakistani government is tense. According to top intelligence sources, the Pakistani spy agency ISI is now deeply concerned about Hafiz Saeed's security. After Abu Qatal's death, ISI reviewed and increased security personnel. Security for Hafiz's son, Talha Saeed, has also been enhanced. Talha Saeed had previously survived an attack as well.
On Saturday, Hafiz's close associate and India's most wanted terrorist, Zia-ur-Rehman alias Abu Qatal, was gunned down. Unknown assailants launched relentless firing at Abu. Pakistani army personnel were also stationed for his protection. In light of this incident, security for Hafiz Saeed has been bolstered.
Abu Qatal Shot Dead
Abu Qatal, the mastermind behind the Reasi attack in Jammu and Kashmir, was actually Zia-ur-Rehman. On Sunday, he was shot in the head at point-blank range by unidentified attackers.
Lahore witnessed a suicide attack near Hafiz Saeed's hideout in 2021, in which Hafiz narrowly escaped. In 2023, two chief operation commanders of Lashkar and Hafiz's close associates, Hanzala Adnan and Riaz Ahmad alias Abu Qasim, were also killed by unknown assailants. Both were wanted by Indian agencies.
Panic in Lashkar Camps
Hafiz Saeed, along with many of Lashkar's most wanted terrorists, have been repeatedly targeted by unknown assailants in Pakistan, creating panic within Lashkar's camps. Indian intelligence sources revealed to AajTak that multiple wanted terrorists have been relocated from POK to different safe houses in Pakistan.
In December 2024, Abdul Rehman Makki, closely linked as a relative of Hafiz Saeed and number two in the terrorist group Lashkar, was killed. Out of fear from unknown attackers, Hafiz Saeed didn't attend Abdul Rehman Makki's funeral despite their familial ties.
Makki's funeral, led by Hafiz's son under Lashkar-e-Taiba's banner, gathered all major terrorists in Pakistan. Despite expectations, Hafiz refrained from attending due to intervention from Pakistani intelligence agency ISI.
