Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated following the Pahalgam terrorist attack. Hours after India imposed a complete ban on imports from Pakistan and barred Pakistani ships from Indian ports, Pakistan followed suit by closing its ports to Indian ships.
According to Pakistan's Dawn news agency, the Ministry of Maritime Affairs' Ports and Shipping Wing issued a directive late Saturday night, stressing that to preserve its maritime sovereignty, economic interests, and national security, it will implement several immediate measures. Consequently, Indian-flagged vessels are banned from any Pakistani port, and Pakistani ships will not head to Indian ports. Any exceptions will be considered separately.
