Residents of Delhi-NCR are set to experience relief from the heat. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts rain and strong winds for two hours this Saturday evening, with wind speeds expected between 40 to 50 km/h. An orange alert has been issued for several areas in South-Eastern and South-Western Delhi.
Which Areas Will Be Affected?
Areas expected to experience impacts include Mehrauli, Tughlaqabad, Jaffarpur, Najafgarh, IGNOU, Aya Nagar, IGI Airport, Vasant Vihar, Vasant Kunj, and Deramandi in Delhi. For NCR, Faridabad, Ballabhgarh, Gurgaon, and Manesar are in the forecasted path of the weather system.
Unexpected Storm Hit Delhi with Heavy Rain
Earlier, on May 3rd, Delhi was hit by a sudden storm accompanied by heavy rain on Friday morning, resulting in the tragic deaths of four individuals. Approximately 80 millimeters of rain fell in just three hours. The IMD had not provided precise forecasts for this event.
Red and Orange Alerts Issued Across Several States
Weather patterns have dramatically shifted in various states across India. The IMD has issued orange and red alerts for eastern Rajasthan, southern Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal (West and South), and Madhya Pradesh due to severe storms, lightning, and strong winds.
