In response to the government order following the Pahalgam terror attack, within the last six days, 786 Pakistani citizens, comprising 55 diplomats, have departed India through the Attari-Wagah border. Nevertheless, Seema Haider, who entered India unlawfully via Nepal, has not returned. Her lawyer, AP Singh, stated on Wednesday that Seema Haider has adopted Hinduism and married Sachin Meena. Their daughter was born in India, and numerous agencies, including the ATS, are investigating her case.

AP Singh emphasized that no connections should be drawn between Seema Haider and the Pahalgam attack, as her case is entirely distinct. She should not be entangled in unrelated controversies. Currently, she is attending to her ill daughter in a hospital. At this critical time, she deserves people's empathy. An in-depth investigation by the UP ATS is already underway, with all necessary documentation available to the investigating agencies. People should trust the legal process and not be swayed by rumors.

Earlier, Seema Haider released a video stating, "I was a daughter of Pakistan, but now I am a daughter-in-law of India. I do not wish to return to Pakistan. I plead with PM (Narendra) Modi and UP CM Yogi (Adityanath) to allow me to stay in India." Seema claims to have embraced Hinduism following her marriage to Sachin Meena. Despite nationwide criticisms, her lawyer remains hopeful that she will be permitted to stay in India, asserting she is no longer a Pakistani citizen.

Seema reiterated, "I appeal to Modi Ji and Yogi Ji that I am now under their protection. I was once a daughter of Pakistan, but I am now a daughter-in-law of India. Please let me stay here." In the wake of the Pahalgam attack, the Cabinet Committee on Security, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, implemented several countermeasures, including suspending visa services for Pakistani nationals. The Ministry of External Affairs also announced that all valid visas issued to Pakistani citizens would be nullified from April 29.

Following this directive, most Pakistanis have returned to their country, yet Seema Haider remains in Greater Noida, UP. But why? The answer is quite intriguing. On April 23, India's Foreign Secretary held a press conference detailing five decisions by the Indian government post the Pahalgam attack. One of these disclosed that all 14 categories of visas for Pakistani nationals present in India would be revoked. Only these specific visa holders were compelled to leave India.

Seema Haider does not fall within the spectrum of the 14 visa categories annulled, as she entered India without a visa—crossing the border illegally. Isn't it fascinating? While Pakistani visitors with legitimate visas faced the consequences, Seema, without an Indian visa, escaped the sanctions. Sometimes, as they say, missteps have fortuitous outcomes. Owing to her unlawful entry, Seema's case is pending in the UP court. Until a verdict is rendered, she will remain in India.

Furthermore, Seema's case has also reached the Presidential Office regarding her request for Indian citizenship. The Presidential Office has yet to reach a decision on this matter. Seema's application for Indian citizenship predates the Pahalgam attack, implying that until a decision is reached, she cannot be deported to Pakistan. Seema entered India through Nepal in May 2023, accompanied by her four children. Her love story with Greater Noida resident Sachin Meena adds an intriguing dimension to this case.
