Following the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on Tuesday, Pakistan's social media and traditional media have seen a whirlwind of activity. In the wake of this attack, Pakistan has distanced itself, denying any involvement. Yet, fears are rife among the Pakistani populace that India could launch a retaliatory strike against Pakistan.

Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif was quick to respond following the incident. He stated unequivocally that Pakistan has no connection to the Pahalgam terrorist attack. He also emphasized that Pakistan condemns terrorism in all its forms.

Prominent Pakistani journalist Hamid Mir took to social media platform X to express his dismay over the Pahalgam attack. He described the shooting of defenseless tourists as shameful and reprehensible, calling for strong condemnation of such cowardly acts on all levels.

Pakistani citizen Yasir Maqbool echoed Hamid Mir’s sentiments, replying that he denounces the brutal shooting at innocent tourists in the strongest terms. Terrorism is unacceptable in any form and place, he asserted, stressing that those responsible should be brought to justice.

Syed Alam Mubarek, another Pakistani journalist, questioned on social media whether anyone could halt India's presumed determination to retaliate if it decides on who was responsible. His post reflected growing concerns in Pakistan over potential Indian military responses to the attack.

Numerous posts have surfaced within Pakistan's social media expressing fears of an Indian military strike against Pakistan. On the other hand, some posts assert threats of repercussions for India, highlighting the risks associated with a potential response from New Delhi.

In India, former Pakistani High Commissioner Abdul Basit expressed on X his confidence that Pakistan is fully prepared to counter any Indian military offensives. He showed no doubt that Pakistan’s response would be decisive.

Another X user, Omar Azhar, shared a video clip featuring General Munir saying that Pakistan would not abandon its Kashmiri brothers. Omar noted that General Munir delivered a fiery speech five days ago, suggesting his remarks might have been misjudged. Such statements, he advised, should be avoided.

The entire nation has been gripped by grief and anger following the terrorist assault in Pahalgam. Security forces are scouring jungles and other areas for the attackers. Crucially, reports confirm the involvement of two Pakistani terrorists in the attack, alongside two local militants.
