As tensions rise between India and Pakistan, immediate cancellation of leaves has been enforced at Ordnance Factory Chanda in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district and Ordnance Factory Khamaria (OFK) in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur district. This step has been taken during a time when defense preparations are intensifying across the country.
A circular released by Ordnance Factory Chanda states that this directive was issued under the instructions of the Chairman and Managing Director of Munitions India Limited (MIL).
Immediate Return to Work Mandated for All
The circular mentions that all types of leaves are canceled, mandating all employees to report on duty without any delay.
The order states, "All employees must report to duty without fail and ensure seamless attendance and contribution in line with national requirements during this critical period." The circular also clarifies that exceptions will only be allowed under extremely necessary circumstances.
Jabalpur Ordnance Factory Explains the Reason
Meanwhile, leaves exceeding two days for officers and employees at the Jabalpur-based Ordnance Factory Khamaria (OFK) were also canceled on Friday. Avinash Shankar, OFK’s PRO, confirmed this information during a phone conversation with PTI.
He stated, "Our target for this financial year is exceptionally large, and in April, we were unable to meet the production goals. To compensate for this, headquarters directed us to cancel leaves to ensure adequate manpower and supervision."
Approximately 4,000 employees work at OFK, making it one of the largest units of Munitions India Limited (MIL), supplying ammunition to the Indian Armed Forces. The factory manufactures artillery shells, bombs, rockets, and other defense materials.
Experts highlight that such preparations are considered crucial for maintaining the country's defense production chain and addressing any contingency. Continuous attendance by employees has been made mandatory to fulfill production targets and ensure timely deliveries.
