In response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, on April 22, India launched 'Operation Sindoor', conducting airstrikes on nine terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and PoK. According to sources, this joint operation by the three armed forces was a resounding success. The headquarters of Lashkar and Jaish have been demolished. Moreover, the notorious '88' control room in Muzaffarabad, PoK, has been completely destroyed. This was the hub from where the Pakistan Army and ISI devised infiltration strategies against India.
Sources indicate that '88' was more than just a building; it was a sophisticated command and control hub, from where movements, launch timings, and intelligence networks were meticulously monitored. Terrorists infiltrated Muzaffarabad with assistance from the Pakistan Army, targeting the Sawai Nala transit camp. From Muzaffarabad, terrorists were consistently dispatched to the Dudhniyal launch pad, 98 KM away, for infiltration.
Where the Strikes Occurred
Muzaffarabad has historically been a major hub for Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). Being strategically significant and close to the Line of Control (LoC) in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, it has long hosted LeT training camps and operational centers. Lashkar-e-Taiba was founded in the late 1980s by Hafiz Saeed.
According to sources, Muridke (30 km from Lahore) has been the LeT headquarters since 1990, functioning under Hafiz Saeed's leadership. It was accountable for the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) has an active terror setup in Bahawalpur. Just three days before the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, a crucial meeting occurred at the Bahawalpur headquarters involving Hamas commander Khalid Qayyumi and Rauf Asgar. Sources say several airstrikes were conducted here.
Pakistan Breaks Ceasefire Again
Agitated by India's airstrikes, Pakistan has resumed ceasefire violations along the border. The Indian Army reports that Pakistan has breached the ceasefire agreement by artillery firing in the Bhimber Gali area of the Poonch-Rajouri sector, to which the Indian Army is aptly responding.
'Operation Sindoor' Strategically Planned
Initial information suggests that the Indian Air Force targeted terrorist locations in Pakistan and PoK with exceptional precision and care. The PIB has reported that 'Operation Sindoor' was strategically crafted to deliver a stern answer to terrorist activities.
