The UP police are taking decisive action against wrongdoers. In the past 24 hours, multiple districts have witnessed encounters. In places like Chandauli, Sambhal, Bijnor, and Kanpur Dehat, police have apprehended a half dozen criminals, wounding some in the process. Notably, last night in Chandauli, police arrested a cattle smuggler after an encounter, where the suspect was shot in the leg during a police firing.
During this encounter, police recovered eight cattle, which were being transported via the Bihar route to Bengal. According to the Chandauli police, these smugglers were moving the cattle in a pickup van toward Bihar when the encounter occurred.
In reality, during a routine check in the Illia area of Chandauli district, the police captured a cattle smuggler following a confrontation. They had received information about a Bolero pickup vehicle being loaded with cattle and heading towards Bihar. The chase ended near Khajra hill where smugglers fired at the police team. In retaliation, Sonu Ansari took a bullet to the leg and was subsequently arrested.
From the captured suspect's possession, a pistol, cartridges, and eight cattle were seized. Another smuggler managed to escape and is still being sought. Deputy SP Chakia, Raghuraj, stated that the recovered cattle are being sent to a shelter, and further legal actions against the accused are underway.
