Following the success of ChatGPT, OpenAI is rumored to be on the verge of introducing an innovative product. Speculations suggest that OpenAI plans to directly challenge Google by launching its search engine. Industry expert Jimmy Apples has claimed that the company is gearing up for a major event that might take place on May 9th.
After initiating recruitment for an event team recently, speculation is high about OpenAI's potential unveiling. 'They've been hiring in-house event staff and focusing on event marketing since January, appointing an event manager last month,' shares Jimmy.
With these developments in mind, it's speculated that OpenAI could soon host a significant event where perhaps their next major project will be announced. Besides, reports have shared insights into OpenAI’s activities inside the company since April.

In addition, OpenAI might reveal innovative strategies to compete with Perplexity AI at their event. Recently, Microsoft prohibited its employees from utilizing this AI for security reasons, leading to a ban.
Previous reports have already surfaced about OpenAI’s work on a search engine projected to compete with Google. It is believed that the search product could take advantage of the existing Bing infrastructure. Sam Altman recently hinted at this on Lex Fridman’s podcast.
However, Altman also mentioned that they don't intend to produce a direct competitor to Google Search. 'The current model seems boring to me. It's not about creating a better 'Google Search'; it's about enhancing the foundation,' Altman stated. Microsoft has been attempting to compete with Google for a long time, but so far, they haven’t achieved the desired success through Bing.
