West Bengal's Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, launched an offensive against BJP on Sunday. Addressing recent events, she declared that NRC would not find a place in Bengal. She accused the ruling party's claims as being solely election-focused.
Mamata Banerjee questioned the integrity of pre-election promises, highlighting the hollow claim of distributing INR 15 lakhs per individual, and criticized the 'Educate Daughters, Save Daughters' campaign as mere fabrication to instigate conflict. She urged the public not to blindly trust social media and to verify facts before believing rumors, and to approach the police if they encounter anything amiss.
Speaking at a public distribution program in Birbhum district, CM Banerjee said her government would continue to honor beneficiaries of various state-run welfare schemes regardless of the possession of an Aadhaar card, despite allegations that the central government led by BJP has been 'inactivating' bank accounts and Aadhaar cards ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
Mamata voiced concerns over 'inactivated' Aadhaar cards in several districts of Bengal, suspecting it a ruse by the center to disrupt pre-election benefits. Yet, she reassured that all beneficiaries would receive their due without fail.
Spotlighting the farmers' demand for government-guaranteed minimum support prices, Banerjee saluted the protests in Haryana and Punjab, asserting that West Bengal's farmers face no such issues while condemning any attacks on protestors.
