Photos of North Korea's restricted nuclear facility have surfaced for the first time. This uranium enrichment site is equipped with numerous centrifuges critical for producing nuclear bomb material. Recently, leader Kim Jong Un visited this center, and the nation successfully tested a 600mm multiple launch rocket system in the Sea of Japan.

Kim Jong Un instructed his scientists to increase the production of nuclear material to bolster the country's nuclear arsenal. Apart from visiting this site, he also went to the Nuclear Weapons Institute to urge the creation of weapon-grade nuclear material. This is the first time images of North Korea's nuclear program have been made public.

It is believed that North Korea has several enrichment sites. Satellite images have revealed such centers, with the Yongbyon Nuclear Scientific Research Center being one of the main ones. An expansion of its uranium enrichment plant is in progress.

How Many Nuclear Weapons Does North Korea Have?

North Korea reportedly possesses about 50 nuclear weapons. However, it has enough material to produce 70 to 90 more nuclear weapons, which can be deployed via its intercontinental ballistic missiles capable of reaching the United States. Additionally, North Korea is working on missiles that can be launched from submarines, posing another significant threat.

Uranium is a naturally occurring radioactive element. To make nuclear fuel, natural uranium undergoes a special process to increase its concentration, resulting in uranium-235 isotopes. According to International Atomic Energy Chief Rafael Grossi, the nuclear enrichment facility at Yongbyon is continuously operational. Kim has ordered the production of more material for weapons.

Additionally, new types of centrifuges have been installed at the facility to maximize nuclear fuel production and prepare weapon-grade material. According to Ankit Panda from the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, North Korea is producing nuclear fuel using two new types of centrifuges, enhancing its capability to build nuclear weapons. Soon, North Korea's nuclear arsenal could number in the hundreds.
