A thrilling encounter between India and Pakistan is set to unfold in Dubai this Sunday. After a year, the two teams will face off on the cricket field again; their last match was during the 2024 T20 World Cup, where India emerged victorious. Now, all eyes across the globe are set on their clash in the ICC Asia Cup.

However, many fans and political parties have expressed strong objections against playing cricket with Pakistan. Aishanya Dwivedi, the widow of Shubham Dwivedi, who was killed in the Pahalgam terror attack, has also voiced her disappointment over the match.

In a conversation with news agency ANI, Aishanya Dwivedi stated that the BCCI should never have agreed to such a match with Pakistan. She called it a significant mistake for the country. Aishanya added that the BCCI did not comprehend the emotions of the 26 bereaved families as there was no loss from their own ranks.

She emphasized that cricketers should possess a strong sense of nationality, which is why cricket is considered a national game, while hockey is our true national sport. Despite this, except for a couple, most cricketers remained silent. We must boycott the India-Pakistan match.

Questioning BCCI and Sponsors

Aishanya Dwivedi questioned the role of BCCI and sponsors. She mentioned that sponsors and TV channels like Sony, which broadcast the match, showed no humanity or respect for the 26 individuals who sacrificed their lives. Everything revolves around revenue, indirectly financing terrorism in Pakistan.

She warned that playing matches with Pakistan provides them with financial gain, strengthening their resources and posing potential threats to India. People have the option to boycott—avoid watching the match or turning on the TV. This could potentially lower viewership and financial gain for Pakistan, possibly bringing about a change.

Aishanya Dwivedi's Views on Government's Stand

Aishanya Dwivedi remarked that though the India-Pakistan match would not transpire within India, BCCI found a way to hold it in Dubai. She questioned why Pakistan was included in the Asia World Cup. Aishanya pleaded for the match to be canceled. Even if my voice didn't reach the authorities, I hope that the general public will hear it and boycott the match.
