In the Turkman Gate area of Delhi, chaos erupted near the Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque during the removal of illegal constructions. During this late-night operation, certain anti-social elements began pelting stones at the police personnel on duty, leading to injuries among four to five officers. In light of these events, Delhi Police have hinted at taking stringent measures.

According to police officials, many policemen were equipped with body cams during the operation. Using footage from both these cameras and nearby CCTV, authorities have identified those involved in the stone-throwing. Ten individuals have been detained, and legal proceedings will ensue, following the registration of an FIR. Both Delhi Police and MCD officials have emphasized that this demolition drive was not against any religious site but strictly in compliance with a high court order to dismantle illegal constructions.

DCP Central Nidhi Valsan stated the operation commenced around 1 AM with adequate police forces deployed to maintain law and order and to manage any unforeseen situations. According to Valsan, the MCD's actions were in alignment with the high court's directives concerning encroached land. Our personnel were stationed for safety. During the operation, some individuals resorted to throwing stones at the police under the cover of darkness. Mild force was used to control the situation. Overall, the process was peaceful, though a few officers suffered minor injuries.

According to the police, many officers wore body cams throughout the operation. Moreover, CCTV cameras around Turkman Gate and surrounding areas recorded the entire incident. Delhi Police are now thoroughly examining all these footage. Officials noted that this evidence clearly highlights who instigated the stone-pelting, when it occurred, and the circumstances surrounding the event. Police sources mention that based on technical evidence, the accused are being identified.

The situation turned tense when some people in the crowd suddenly started throwing stones at the police. Authorities believe the stone-throwing appeared premeditated, as individuals on-site were provoking the crowd. The injured officers received primary medical care and are reported to be in stable condition. Police officials conveyed that any hindrance to government work and attacks on officers are serious offenses, and those involved will not be spared.

Officials confirmed that no damage was inflicted on the Faiz-e-Ilahi Mosque. Both police and the MCD clearly stated that the mosque was untouched. The operation targeted illegal constructions around the mosque. Removed structures included part of a community hall, some unauthorized shops, and a dispensary. Authorities explained that these were encroachments with ongoing legal actions against them, and the high court order prompted their removal.

Delhi Police have registered an FIR in this case. According to sources, charges include obstruction of government work, assault on police, and disturbing public peace. DCP Central emphasized that those involved in the commotion will be identified and face strict legal action. Police are also investigating whether there was any conspiracy behind this event or if the crowd was deliberately incited. If so, separate action will be taken against those conspiring.

Following the incident, additional police forces have been deployed in Turkman Gate and nearby sensitive areas. To prevent any rumors or recurrence of violence, constant patrols are underway. Police officials have appealed to locals to maintain peace and ignore rumors.
