The Bihar Economic Offences Unit (EOU) is in the process of transferring the investigation of the NEET UG paper leak case to the CBI. Prior to the CBI's initiation of the probe, the Bihar EOU shared details of their findings. The EOU states that details provided by the National Testing Agency (NTA) regarding paper storage, transportation, and handover reveal vulnerabilities within the system. The EOU maintains that the investigation is ongoing to determine the exact point of the leak.
In the course of the investigation, the involvement of the Sanjeev Mukhiya gang, a resident of Nalanda, Bihar, has been uncovered. It was discovered that the leaked paper was solved and sent to an accomplice, Baldev alias Chintu, who then printed and distributed it to students at the Learn Boys Play School. Chintu is a member of Sanjeev Mukhiya's gang. The paper's code matched with a test center in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand.
The EOU discovered that the chain of custody through packaging was broken, allowing for tampering. Police have questioned employees of SBI and Blue Dart, responsible for the paper's storage and transportation. Interrogations with Chintu and evidence from Jharkhand government-provided envelopes and boxes have further confirmed that this is an interstate racket with some members still at large.
CBI Team Attacked During Investigation
A CBI team, dispatched to investigate the UGC NET paper leak, was reportedly attacked on Saturday evening. The incident occurred in the Kasidiyah village of Nawada district in Bihar, where villagers launched an assault on the team. Initially, it was thought that the villagers had mistaken the CBI team for imposters, but the attack actually ensued immediately after the team seized a phone used in the paper leak, prompting the culprit's family and other villagers to retaliate.
