NEET UG Counselling 2024:

The Supreme Court has once again refused to halt the NEET UG 2024 counselling process. It stated that if the May 5th examination is annulled, then the entire process would be invalidated. The Supreme Court has also sought responses from NTA on other related petitions.

The Supreme Court conducted a hearing today on the petitions filed regarding the NEET-UG case. A bench headed by Justice Vikram Nath heard demands for a halt on the NEET UG counselling process.

If the May 5th exam is canceled, the entire process ends: Supreme Court

The bench rejected the request, saying that if the court decides to cancel the May 5th exam after the hearing, then all subsequent procedures would automatically come to an end. The hearing on the rest of the petitions is scheduled for July 8.

NEET UG counselling process begins on July 6

The NEET UG counselling process is scheduled to begin on July 6. The Supreme Court is set to hold a hearing on July 8, regarding several petitions filed concerning the NEET paper leak, exam cancellation demands, calls for a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities. On the other hand, NTA has revoked grace marks awarded to 1,563 candidates who appeared at six exam centers, offering them two options: either to participate in the re-NEET exam (scheduled for June 23, 2024), or to join the counselling process starting on July 6 with their scores without the grace marks. The results of the NEET UG re-exam are expected to be released on June 30.

Notice sent to NTA

The Supreme Court has issued a notice to NTA on petitions demanding the cancellation of the NEET exam, a halt in the counselling process, and requesting a CBI investigation into the alleged irregularities. The petitions have also been linked to a hearing scheduled for July 8.

Previously, the Supreme Court had issued notices on four petitions filed by NTA and listed them for July 8. These petitions include demands to transfer ongoing NEET-UG case hearings from various high courts across different states to the Supreme Court. The petitions have been filed in the high courts of Madhya Pradesh at Jabalpur, Delhi, Rajasthan, Allahabad, Calcutta, and Chhattisgarh, dealing with various irregularities including the NEET paper leak.
