In a decisive move just before the NEET UG 2025 exam, 26 MBBS students were swiftly suspended. Furthermore, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has canceled the admission of 14 students. These students are accused of using unfair means in the NEET UG 2024-25 exam cycle.
The medical entrance exam, known as the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), is scheduled for May 4, 2025. Just before this, NMC has taken strict action against malpractice in previous exams. This step by NMC is seen as a significant move toward ensuring fairness in future examinations.
Investigation and Action on Paper Leak
Various agencies are investigating the paper leak and irregularities in NEET-UG 2024. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has barred 42 candidates from appearing in NEET for the years 2024, 2025, and 2026. Additionally, 9 candidates have been restricted from the 2025 and 2026 sessions. Candidature for 215 candidates has been withheld pending investigation conclusion. This action is based on the probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
NMC's Firm Stance
NMC stated that these irregularities could severely damage the reputation of medical education. According to a PTI report, "Given the gravity of these violations, NMC has directed the concerned medical colleges to suspend 26 students." NMC has adopted a "zero tolerance" policy against academic fraud and pledged to ensure transparency and accountability in medical admissions.
This action by NMC clearly shows that any form of malpractice in medical education will not be tolerated. Students are advised to strictly adhere to examination rules.
