A significant development has surfaced in the NEET exam paper leak case. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to probe the alleged foul play has arrested 14 individuals to date. The arrested suspects have confessed to police about the money transactions and the existence of 'safe houses' for the NEET paper leak. Meanwhile, shocking confessions to the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) have hinted at major oversights in this year's medical entrance exam.
The suspects revealed in their confessions that candidates paid over 30 million rupees for the leaked NEET paper. On Saturday, the EOU agency dispatched notices to nine candidates, summoning them with evidence to their Patna office for questioning regarding their connection to the 'solver gang'. All the called candidates hail from different districts of Bihar, and they have been asked to appear on Monday and Tuesday. The National Testing Agency (NTA) has so far not commented on the recent developments.
These events unfolded as Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan stated that there is no scope for irregularities or fraud in the organization of any exam. "Every aspect is being scrutinized. Accountability will be established, and actions will be taken based on the nature of the lapse. We will not tolerate this. If any irregularities are found, NTA's accountability will also be established," he affirmed.
As the EOU investigated the 'solver gang' nexus, it found roll numbers for 13 candidates, four of whom have already been arrested. Subsequently, EOU requested information about the nine candidates from the examination agency NTA, along with sample question papers. DIG Manavjeet Singh Dhillon of the EOU mentioned that NTA sent admit cards of the candidates, aiding the agency in obtaining their contact details, followed by dispatching the notices. The students will also be questioned whether they were made to memorize questions by the solver gang prior to the exams.
