Navneet Sehgal, the former IAS officer from Uttar Pradesh, has been appointed as the Chairman of Prasar Bharati. Sehgal assumes the leadership role at Prasar Bharati for a tenure of three years. Known for his distinguished service in UP's cadre, Sehgal boasts a rich experience working with several chief ministers, particularly excelling in the Information and Public Relations departments. The Indian government has entrusted him with a significant new responsibility, drawing on his expertise.

Navneet Sehgal, one of UP's most prominent IAS officers, retired last year after a 35-year service. A 1988-batch officer, Sehgal has worked in the core teams of Mayawati, Akhilesh Yadav, and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Sehgal has been influential in every administration, shaping policies and initiatives.

During Mayawati's tenure, Sehgal was a powerful secretary. With Akhilesh Yadav as Chief Minister, he was seen as a close aide. Sehgal is also known for leading the development of the Lucknow-Agra Expressway in record time. In Yogi Adityanath's tenure, he served as the Principal Secretary of Information.

All about Navneet Sehgal, from his humble beginnings

Born in 1963 in Punjab's Faridkot and raised in Haryana where his father worked, Navneet Sehgal completed his early education locally. He passed his tenth-grade exams in Ambala and intermediate exams in Bhiwani. At 19, Sehgal graduated with a B.Com degree. Afterwards, he enrolled for Chartered Accountancy and finished his CA course in 1986, further completing the Company Secretary course the next year. Post qualifying as a CA in 1986, Sehgal commenced practicing, simultaneously preparing for the civil services.
