The renowned American space agency NASA has decided to postpone the much-anticipated launch of Axiom Mission 4, originally scheduled for Sunday, June 22. NASA, Axiom Space, and SpaceX have decided to delay the proposed launch to a later date yet to be announced.

NASA revealed that following recent repairs to the Zvezda Service Module's rear section on the International Space Station (ISS), a thorough review of the station's current condition is underway. Due to the interconnected nature of all ISS systems, NASA intends to ensure that all arrangements are fully secure and ready before sending additional astronauts to the station.

In a statement, NASA asserted, "We wish for the space station to be entirely prepared to safely receive any new team. Consequently, we are conducting an in-depth examination of additional data."

A Historic Mission for India, Poland, and Hungary

This mission is deemed historic for countries like India, Poland, and Hungary. Four astronauts partaking in the mission are currently quarantined in Florida and are ready for launch once the station signals readiness.

India's Shubham Shukla is the Mission Pilot

The command of Axiom Mission 4 will be under the leadership of former NASA astronaut and Axiom Space’s Director of Human Spaceflight, Peggy Whitson. Serving as the mission's pilot is India’s ISRO astronaut Shubham Shukla. Joining him are two mission specialists: ESA project astronaut Swavosh Uznański-Wisniewski from Poland and Tibor Kapu from Hungary.

All Systems Go at Kennedy Space Center

SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket and Dragon spacecraft are currently positioned at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center Launch Complex 39A, and they are technically in excellent condition. NASA, Axiom Space, and SpaceX emphasized their focus on mission safety, opting to launch only after an exhaustive review of operational preparations.
