Following the Monday violence in the Mahal area of Nagpur, news of another arson incident late at night has emerged. Police officials reported that in Hanspuri area, miscreants targeted several shops and homes. Prohibitory orders have been enforced in the city. Nagpur's Police Commissioner Dr. Ravinder Singal stated that Section 163 of the Code of Indian Citizen Safety has been implemented in the city. The initial clash occurred around 7:30 PM on Monday in the Chitnis Park region of Mahal.
Another incident ignited between 10:30 PM and 11:30 PM near the Old Bhandara Road in Hanspuri. During this period, a violent crowd set several vehicles on fire, vandalized homes, and set them ablaze.

According to a PTI report, resident Sharad Gupta from Hanspuri shared that the crowd came around 10:30 PM to 11:30 PM, throwing stones and torching vehicles. He added that the police got to the scene an hour later. Another resident, Chandrakant Kawde, mentioned that the crowd burned all their decorations and pelted stones at homes. Meanwhile, officials confirmed police deployment in the Hanspuri area. Currently, peace prevails in the region.

An eyewitness from the Hanspuri neighborhood described masked faces arriving with sharp weapons, sticks, and bottles, initiating havoc by vandalizing stores and hurling stones. They torched 8-10 vehicles.
In the backdrop of the conflict over Aurangzeb's tomb, Monday evening witnessed a violent clash in the Mahal area of Nagpur between two groups. Miscreants set numerous vehicles ablaze, threw stones, and caused damage to public property, injuring several police officers.
The violence ensued following claims by Muslim organizations accusing members from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal of burning a cloth with religious writings during a protest in Sambhajinagar, demanding the removal of the Mughal ruler Aurangzeb's tomb. As a precaution, additional police force has been deployed, enhancing security in the area.
CM Calls for Peace
Addressing the violent clash in Nagpur, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis appealed for peace, urging citizens to cooperate with authorities. He reiterated constant communication with police administration and emphasized the need for public cooperation. Devendra Fadnavis urged against believing rumors and requested full cooperation with the administration.
Nagpur Police revealed that following the stone-pelting and arson incident in Mahal, they have issued prohibitory orders in the city. Over 20 individuals have been detained. CCTV footage and other video clips are being examined to identify the culprits. FIR registration is underway. Police have appealed to maintain peace and assist in preserving law and order in Nagpur.
Maharashtra's Minister and state BJP chief, Chandrashekhar Bawankule, prioritized restoring peace in the community and avoiding rumors. Investigations will reveal the cause of the unrest. However, Nagpur residents should not trust rumors and must back the police administration. The police are endeavoring to maintain peace. A collective call has been made to uphold peace and the dignity of Nagpur city. I urge all political parties and politicians in Maharashtra to unite, foster societal peace, and help the public understand that rioters will be identified by the police, and this event should not be politicized.
