The prime suspect in the attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan has been apprehended by Mumbai Police. The suspect was caught near the labor camp close to Hiranandani Estate, Thane. Police have detained him for questioning, claiming his name to be Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad. He had previously confused the police by providing four different names, none of which led to valid identification, demanding intensive effort from the police to discover his real identity.
Mumbai Police, during a press conference, confirmed the suspect's name to be Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, suggesting he might be a Bangladeshi citizen. This aspect is currently under investigation. They stated that the suspect arrived in Mumbai around six months ago, working for a housekeeping company. It seems this might have been his first entry into Saif's home.
What is the Attacker's Real Name?
According to police, the main suspect, who attacked Saif Ali Khan, might be from Bangladesh. Upon capture, he confessed to entering Saif and Kareena's residence and assaulting Saif with a knife.
During the investigation, revealing information surfaced about the suspect's identity. In the initial interrogation, the attacker provided four different names: Bijoy Das, Vijay Das, Mohammad Ilyas, and BJ. The police stated he repeatedly misrepresented his identity. However, now, they have uncovered his real name.
A Suspect was Arrested in Chhattisgarh
Earlier, on Saturday, a suspect related to the attack was detained by police in Durg, Chhattisgarh. Two individuals were also held in Mumbai, and interrogations are ongoing with both suspects.
Kareena Frightened by Saif's Attack
The attack on her husband, Saif, has left Kareena incredibly frightened. The actress had recorded her statement with the police just two days after the attack. She explained to the police that when the attack occurred, Saif had sent women and children to the 12th floor for safety. He tried to protect them, and due to his intervention, the attacker could not reach their youngest son, Jahangir.
Kareena also mentioned that though there was visible jewelry at home, the assailant did not steal anything. The attacker was overly aggressive and repeatedly assaulted Saif with a knife. The incident terrified her, prompting her sister, Karisma, to take her to her own home.
What Happened on the Night of Saif's Attack?
Around 2 AM on January 16, an unknown intruder entered Saif Ali Khan's home and began arguing with the maid. Hearing the commotion, Saif confronted the intruder, leading to a scuffle as he tried to protect his family. The attacker, in a rage, attacked Saif with a knife. Reports indicate that Saif was stabbed six times, leaving him seriously injured.
The children's nanny was also injured during the attack. After the assailant fled, Saif personally took his son Taimur in an auto to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital. A fragment of the knife was lodged near his spine, which was surgically removed by the doctors. Thankfully, Saif is now out of danger, and fans are wishing for his speedy recovery.
