Prominent Indian lawyer Ujjwal Nikam had a close call on Monday when his car was rear-ended by a police vehicle in the Khandala Ghat region on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway.
Despite the collision, the two police officers in the patrol vehicle suffered only minor injuries. The incident took place late at night around 8 PM during Nikam's journey to Mumbai.
According to a Raigad police official, the patrol vehicle struck Nikam's car from behind. This event transpired when Nikam's driver decelerated upon sighting another accident in the ghat area. Both police officers involved in this incident only incurred light injuries.
It’s worth noting that Ujjwal Nikam is one of the nation's most renowned public prosecutors, having represented the government in high-profile cases including the prosecution and subsequent sentencing of terrorist Ajmal Kasab, the 1993 Bombay bombings, the Gulshan Kumar murder case, and the Pramod Mahajan murder case.
