Following thorough interrogation, Worli police have arrested Rajesh Shah, the father of Mihir Shah, and Rajarshi Bidavar, the car's occupant at the time of the accident. Mihir Shah has been on the run since the accident occurred. According to the police, Mihir had also visited his girlfriend's house after the accident. At 24 years of age, Mihir Shah, the son of Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction) leader Rajesh Shah, has stopped his studies after completing the tenth grade and was assisting in his father's construction and real estate business in Maharashtra. During the incident, Mihir Shah was driving the luxury car accompanied by Rajarshi Bidavar, who is now under arrest.

Following the incident, the BMW car was found abandoned in the Bandra East area of Kala Nagar. The police speculate that Mihir abandoned his car in Bandra and fled the scene in an auto-rickshaw, along with Bidavar heading to Borivali.

Post-Accident, Mihir Visited Girlfriend's House

Early investigations reveal that Mihir had visited his girlfriend's house fleeing the site. Police are questioning her about potentially harboring the suspects. Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) leader Rajesh Shah has been arrested by police as the BMW car is registered in his name.

Mihir Shah has been charged under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, which includes 105 (unintentional manslaughter), 281 (driving with negligence that endangers human life), 125-B (endangering life and personal security), 238, 324 (4) (mischievous act causing damage and harm).

Police probing this angle

Investigations have brought to light that Mihir Shah and a group of friends visited a pub hours before the hit-and-run case. The pub owner has stated Mihir did not consume alcohol but had Red Bull instead. Police are currently investigating whether Mihir was inebriated at the time of the incident.

CM Shinde asserts law applies equally to all

In reaction to the incident, Maharashtra's Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has declared that the law is equal for everyone and nobody will be spared. The government regards every case with the same perspective. There will be no separate rules for this accident. Everything will be conducted as per the law. He assured that the police would not protect anyone. The Mumbai accident is regrettable, and he has instructed the police department to take stern action.
