In a distressing development, Mukhtar Ansari, incarcerated in Banda Jail, experienced a sudden deterioration in health. Extracted from his cell and rushed to the medical college by ambulance, it's reported that Ansari collapsed unconscious within his barracks. Today's events mark a more severe degradation in his health compared to Tuesday. Sources speculate Ansari suffered a heart attack, following an earlier medical emergency on Tuesday at Rani Durgavati Medical College for a digestive system issue, after which he underwent a 14-hour intensive care treatment.
Ansari's Health Fails Before Doctor
While in jail, Ansari's condition did not improve, even in the doctor's presence. After experiencing severe nausea, the on-call doctor was summoned, leading to his transfer to the medical college when his condition did not stabilize, indicating a potential heart attack. His condition remains critical, and a team of doctors is now fully engaged in his care.
During his checkup, Ansari underwent two abdominal X-rays and blood sample collections, testing his sugar levels, CBC, LFT (Liver Function Test), and electrolytes (sodium, potassium, calcium). After reports returned normal, he was discharged and sent back to Banda Jail. Jail DC S.N. Sabat mentioned that Ansari practiced fasting, and it was post-fasting that his health took a turn for the worse.
Security Tightened in Banda
Following these developments, security measures in Banda have been escalated. The DM and SP have summoned the district's forces to the medical college, and the DGP headquarters has issued directives for heightened vigilance. This increase in alertness extends beyond Banda to districts across UP, with instructions for captains from Lucknow to Kanpur and Mau to Gazipur to enhance their vigilance. Orders have also been given to increase police force patrolling in sensitive areas.
Mukhtar Ansari Suffers Heart Attack in Jail
On Tuesday, family members visited Ansari at the medical college. Only Afzal Ansari managed to meet him; following the visit, Umar Ansari leveled grave accusations of an assassination attempt in jail against the local administration and the government, questioning the security. Mukhtar himself had accused the jail administration of slowly poisoning his food. After his condition worsened, he was sent back to Durgavati Medical College, and after his reports came back normal, he was returned to Banda Jail.
