A 26-year-old patient suffering from MPOX was discharged from Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan (LNJP) Hospital in Delhi on September 21, after nearly 12 days of treatment. The patient was admitted on September 8, and the following day, September 9, doctors confirmed the MPOX infection. The patient is a resident of Hisar district in Haryana.
The patient was initially brought to LNJP Hospital with complaints of mild fever, fatigue, and rashes on the body. After admission, the patient was immediately transferred to the disaster ward prepared specifically for MPOX patients. This ward at LNJP Hospital has a total of 20 isolation rooms, with 10 rooms reserved for suspected cases and 10 for confirmed cases.
According to hospital administration, the patient’s condition continuously improved, and all medical parameters were found normal, leading to their discharge on September 21. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared MPOX as a global health emergency for the second time last month, considering its spread and prevalence in several parts of Africa.
Additionally, arrangements have been made in other major hospitals in Delhi for the treatment of suspected and confirmed MPOX cases. Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital and Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital have reserved 5 isolation rooms each for suspected cases and 5 rooms each for confirmed cases. These arrangements aim to curb the spread of MPOX and ensure the prompt treatment of patients.
