Madhya Pradesh General Elections 2024:

The election commission has announced the dates for the Lok Sabha elections which will be completed in seven phases. Voting will occur on April 19, April 26, May 7, May 13, May 20, May 25, and June 1. The results will be declared on June 4.

In Madhya Pradesh, elections for 29 seats will happen over four phases. Voting for six seats in the first phase will take place on April 19. This is followed by seven seats on April 26, eight seats on May 7, and the remaining eight seats on May 13. The 2019 General Elections followed a similar four-phase process.

Which seats will vote when?

In the first phase on April 19, votes will be cast in the districts of Sidhi, Shahdol, Jabalpur, Mandla, Balaghat, and Chhindwara. In the second phase on April 26, Tikamgarh, Damoh, Khajuraho, Satna, Rewa, Hoshangabad, and Betul will go to polls. The third phase on May 7 will see voting in Morena, Bhind, Gwalior, Guna, Sagar, Vidisha, and Bhopal. Lastly, on May 13, the fourth phase will include Dewas, Ujjain, Mandsaur, Ratlam, Dhar, Indore, Khargone, and Khandwa.

In the 2019 elections, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 28 out of 29 seats in the state, with Congress securing only the Chhindwara seat. The BJP received 58%, Congress 34.50%, and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) 2.38% of the votes.

Having already declared all 29 candidates for this round, the BJP is poised for the contest. Meanwhile, Congress has announced 10 candidates so far.

Madhya Pradesh will see 5.63 crore voters exercising their rights, a growth of 3 lakh voters in just four months. Men account for 2.89 crore of the total voters, while there are 2.73 crore women voters.

The BJP has announced candidates for all 29 constituencies, including 14 new faces. 15 sitting MPs have been given another chance. Ex-Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is contesting from Vidisha, and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia from Guna.

On the other hand, the Congress Party has declared 10 candidates and is set to announce 18 more. One seat, Khajuraho, is being reserved for the Samajwadi Party.
