Prime Minister Modi's two-day visit to Japan has successfully concluded, and he is now en route to China. This trip was of immense significance for both India and Japan, with key agreements reached and collaborations discussed across various sectors. During this visit, PM Modi brought special gifts from India for Japan's Prime Minister and his wife.
Moonstone Bowl Set Gifted to Japanese PM
PM Modi presented Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba with a special set of 'ramen bowls with chopsticks'. This exquisite set is made from valuable moonstone and silver, including one large brown moonstone bowl, four smaller bowls, and silver chopsticks. Inspired by Japan's traditional Donburi and Soba dining customs, this set is a symbol of cultural fusion.
The moonstone was sourced from Andhra Pradesh, renowned for its dazzling 'adularescence', symbolizing love, balance, and protection. The large bowl features a base of Makrana marble, adorned with stone inlays in Rajasthan's traditional parchinkari style.
Pashmina Shawl for Shigeru Ishiba's Wife
Prime Minister Modi also gifted a famous Kashmiri pashmina shawl to the wife of Japan's Prime Minister. This shawl is made from the wool of Ladakh's Changthangi goat, celebrated worldwide for its lightweight, softness, and warmth. Handwoven on an ivory base, it features floral and paisley patterns in hues of rust, pink, and red.
The shawl is elegantly housed in a beautiful papier-mâché box embellished with hand-painted floral and bird motifs. These gifts serve as a testament to India's rich art, craftsmanship, and traditions extending their reach to Japan.
